Welcome to the website of the Dutch Permanent Representation to the EU

The Permanent Representation promotes the Dutch interests in the European Union (EU). Our team consists of people from practically all ministries and other branches of the Dutch government, united in one building and one organisation in Brussels.
It is our daily job to negotiate and lobby on behalf of the Netherlands in the EU. This implies that all of us, each in his/her own specific field of expertise, are in daily contact with the representatives of the other Member States, as well as with the European Commission and the European Parliament.
This site has been designed to accommodate all those who, for professional or other reasons, want to get in touch with us, as an extension of the Dutch government in Brussels.
For policy-related information on all aspects of our work we refer you to the various websites of Dutch ministries and European institutions, which are connected to this site by internet links.
Don’t hesitate to contact us, because a more transparent Europe is in the interest both of the Netherlands, as well as that of the European Union!

The European Union and the Commom Foreign and the security policy.
The European Union plays a key role in international affairs.
It represents one of the most dynamic aspects of the European cooperation, where we try to define a common approach. The European Union is active on the International scene, whether it is about the presence in a civil mission in Kosovo, or the participation to a military mission in Tchad. The Political and Security Committee discusses all these matters. The Council gives a lot of information about the Common Foreign ans security policy.

More information regarding European legislation as well as the subjects that are dealt with is to be found on: http://www.consilium.europa.eu/cms3_fo/showPage.asp?id=426&lang=NL&mode=g
